Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto designated waste management as a national priority on Tuesday (28/4/2026) during a visit to the Integrated Waste Treatment Plant (TPST BLE) in Banyumas, Central Java.
The President aims to gain full control over the nation’s waste crisis within the next three years by replicating effective local models across Indonesia.
"We are developing everything; waste management is now a national priority. In two to three years, we must control waste throughout Indonesia," President Prabowo said following his inspection of the facility, as cited by antaranews.com
The President praised the Banyumas model for its integrated system and use of cost-effective local technology. Currently, 13 regencies in Central Java have adopted similar systems.
To accelerate this progress, the central government committed to providing direct assistance to enhance these facilities. The TPST BLE in Wlahar Wetan Village, which processes 75 tons daily, is now considered a national standard for environmental management and public health improvement.
