Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has signaled that the government may soon reclaim state assets currently under private control, reaffirming the constitutional mandate that such resources must benefit the people.

Speaking before a crowd of workers at the May Day celebration in the National Monument (Monas) on Thursday (1/5/2025), he declared: “I was born and raised in Betawi. I know which assets belong to the people, and I will take them back for the people.”

President Prabowo emphasized that the move is constitutionally grounded, citing Article 33(3) of the 1945 Constitution, which mandates that the state must control land, water, and natural resources for the public good.

He also noted that he had consulted Supreme Court justices regarding the legal basis for such action, according to antaranews.com.

Though he did not name specific assets, the long-disputed 13-hectare Hotel Sultan land—currently occupied by Indobuildco—remains under scrutiny. The Ministry of State Secretariat has already issued a legal warning to the company, whose building rights expired in 2023.

Management of the area, including the Gelora Bung Karno complex, is set to shift to state investment body Danantara, following the President’s directive. However, no official transfers have been made, with inter-agency coordination underway
