Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has signed Presidential Regulation Number 8 of 2026 on the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism for 2026-2028 to provide a strategic framework to mitigate terrorism-related threats through nine core themes, including community resilience, deradicalization, and international cooperation.
The regulation mandates local administrations to develop regional action plans within one year of its issuance. A joint secretariat will be established to synchronize efforts between ministries, agencies, and local authorities.
"The RAN PE focuses on handling triggers, including conducive conditions and structural contexts that serve as driving factors for radicalization," the regulation stated, as cited by antaranews.com on Monday (4/5/2026).
Key focus areas include youth empowerment, counter-messaging via digital media, and human rights. The policy addresses underlying drivers of extremism such as economic inequality, political grievances, and religious intolerance to ensure long-term national security.
