Public Transportation User in 2026 Eid Holiday  is Higher than the Previous Year

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Transportation, through its 2026 Integrated Eid al-Fitr Transportation Center, recorded an 8.58 percent increase in the number of travelers using public transportation compared to previous year.

"People using public transportation are still quite high up until Eid al-Fitr, but remain under control. The most commonly used mode of transportation is still trains," said Ernita Titis Dewi, Head of the Public Information and Communication Bureau, Monday (3/23/2026).

Cumulatively, public transportation passenger movements from D-8, Friday (3/13/2026), to Eid al-Fitr, Saturday (3/21/2026), reached 10,887,584 people. This represents an 8.58 percent increase compared to the 2025 Eid al-Fitr holiday period, which reached 10,027,482 people.

Meanwhile, the cumulative distribution by mode of transportation included 3,349,343 passengers by train, a 13.46 percent increase from 2,952,055 passengers the previous year. Air transportation carried 2,397,192 passengers, a 2.95 percent increase from 2,328,551 passengers.

Furthermore, ferry transportation carried 2,664,004 passengers, a 14.01 percent increase from 2,336,619 passengers; bus transportation carried 1,693,931 passengers, a 9.37 percent increase from 1,548,874 passengers; and sea transportation carried 783,114 passengers.

On Eid al-Fitr, the Ministry of Transportation recorded 873,916 public transportation passengers.

Based on daily data, the number of public transportation passengers departing on Eid al-Fitr was 364,649, consisting of 205,335 intercity passengers and 159,314 regional urban passengers.

Air transportation departed 206,785, consisting of 155,675 domestic passengers and 51,110 international passengers. Sea transportation departed 21,141, and ferry transportation departed 177,564.

Meanwhile, people going by bus are reaching 103,777.

In addition to passenger movements, vehicle flow was also monitored at several transportation hubs. On Eid al-Fitr, 193,237 vehicles exited Jakarta's toll gates, while 122,074 entered.

The total number of vehicles entering and leaving the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) toll gates was recorded at 380,753, and at toll gates outside the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) toll gates at 353,546.

On arterial roads, 601,275 vehicles exited Greater Jakarta and 460,089 entered. Meanwhile, vehicle movement on arterial roads outside the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) reached 607,366.

The Ministry of Transportation urges the public to begin anticipating the return flow, which is expected to peak on Tuesday (March 24), three days after Eid al-Fitr.
