Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Military (TNI) confirmed that the red and white flag briefly tore during a rehearsal for the 80th TNI anniversary celebration at Monas square, Central Jakarta, on Thursday .

“The wind yesterday reached over 20 knots, which was quite strong. The fabric we used was also not of the best quality, so the flag tore when it was unfurled,” said TNI spokesperson Major General Freddy Ardianzah on Friday (3/10/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.

The damaged flag has since been replaced with a stronger one, and Friday’s final rehearsal went smoothly with the red-and-white flying flawlessly above Monas.

Freddy emphasized that lessons were learned from the incident and expressed hope that the main event on Sunday will proceed without issue. 

The anniversary will feature a massive military parade, with 1,047 weapon systems showcased and 133,480 participants, including soldiers and civilians, taking part in ceremonies, combat simulations, parachute jumps, and flyovers.
