Inp.polri.go.id - Pidie. A joint operation involving the Indonesian National Police (INP), the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Directorate General of Customs and Excise, and China's National Narcotics Control Commission (NNCC) uncovered a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Pidie Regency, Aceh.
The bust yielded nearly 1.2 gross tons of illicit narcotics, marking it as the largest clandestine drug laboratory seizure recorded in Indonesia.
Simultaneous raids were conducted across five locations in Pidie, Bireuen, North Aceh, and Lhokseumawe on 21 October 2026. At a shophouse in East Mutiara District, Pidie Regency, authorities discovered a lab used to process liquid meth oil into crystal methamphetamine, confiscating 20 drums of meth oil, 500 kilograms of crystal meth, and specialized manufacturing equipment.
Officers arrested 11 individuals, consisting of two foreigners and nine Indonesian citizens, suspected of involvement in an international drug syndicate. Preliminary investigations indicate the precursor liquid moved through Southeast Asia before reaching Aceh.
"I congratulate the team on this revelation that has saved the nation's youth. Our police and public have successfully uncovered a large-scale drug network," said INP Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto.
He urged property owners, including shophouse and rental home landlords, to carefully verify tenant identities and activities to prevent properties from being used for illicit operations.
Investigators are pursuing remaining suspects on the wanted list, tracing financial flows, and coordinating with international authorities to dismantle the supply chain.
