inp.polri.go.id - Riau. Houses in Meranti Pandak Village, Rumbai District, Pekanbaru, were still submerged in floodwaters until Thursday (3/6/2025) early morning. Hundreds of residents had to be evacuated from their homes, while quite a few residents are still holding out.

This information came out after the Vice Chief of Riau Regional Police, Brigadier General Andrianto Jossy Kusumo, together with a number of Riau Regional Police officials, conducted direct monitoring last night. Using a rubber boat belonging, Jossy patrols around the submerged settlement areas.

The flood is said to have reached the height of about one meter and inundated people's homes. In addition to observing the condition of the residents,Jossy also distributed food to the affected residents.

“We are delivering the foods and medicines to the affected residents. This is our responsibility to care and help the people affected by the disaster,” says Jossy at the location.

He also directed the Mobile Brigade unit to help the evacuation and to stand-by 24 hours to be ready in assisting the people.

Following the patrol, Jossy assures police commitment in giving their all to assist the people, not only in Pekanbaru, but also in other regencies/cities affected by the disaster.

“We have coordinated with the local government and we have received the instruction from the Chief to help the people,” Jossy said in his closing statement.
