Four months the invasion has been going on in Ukraine by the Russian troops, and their progress in taking control the cities of Donbas from Ukrainian troops is increasingly growing. Recently, Russia managed to regain the control of Severodonetsk, which is one of the main strongholds of Ukraine in the east of its territory. Russian troops are also trying to capture the city of Lysyschansk. Both cities are located in the Luhansk province. If Russia succeeds in capturing the city of Lysychansk, the Kremlin will have complete control of the Luhansk region. It would also bring Russia close to controlling the majority of the Donbas, a region in eastern Ukraine that has long become the base of pro-Moscow separatists. Eastern Ukraine is Russia's main target at the moment, after Moscow failed to take control of the capital Kyiv at the beginning of the invasion. Seeing Russia's continued progress in its assault on Eastern Ukraine, opened the possibility for Moscow to actually gain control of the region, a possibility that Kyiv and the West wished never happened. If Russia actually gained control of Ukraine soil, several international political observers believe that President Vladimir Putin will not stop even though Russia has succeeded in controlling eastern Ukraine. As reported by the BBC, Sam Cranny-Evans, of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) believes that Russia will try to expand even more if that happens. "If the Russians feel they can get more (territory) from their original goal, I suspect they will," Cranny-Evans said.
