inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia determined that Eid Al-Fitr or 1 Shawwal 1443 Hijri fell on Monday, 2 May, 2022. "Monday is the first day of the blessed Eid al-Fitr this year," a supreme court official told the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday (4/30/22), as quoted by AFP. As reported by Al Arabiya, the official said that the Saudi Supreme Court took this decision because the moon of Shawwal had not been seen on Saturday. With this decision, Sunday (1/5) will be the last day for Muslims in Saudi Arabia to fast in the month of Ramadan this year. Before Saudi Arabia, several other countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Egypt, Sudan, Lebanon, and Turkey also set 1 Shawwal 1443 Hijri to fall on Monday. Meanwhile, Indonesia will hold an Isbat session to determine 1 Shawwal 1443 Hijri on Sunday. Deputy Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. H. Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi, M.Sc., said that there is a possibility that the government's version of Eid will fall on the same date as Muhammadiyah organizations, namely May 2, 2022. "Yes, hopefully this year’s Eid, can be the same again as Muhammadiyah," said the Deputy Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia at the Indonesian Ministry of Religion Office, Central Jakarta, on Monday (25/04/22 ). Previously, the government and Muhammadiyah had different decisions on the start of Ramadan 1443 H. The government decided that the start of fasting would fall on April 3, while Muhammadiyah on April 2.
