Search for Missing BAKTI Ship in Papua Enters Fifth Day

Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura.   The Search and Rescue (SAR) team from the Timika Search and Rescue Office in Papua continued the search for the BTS Ministry of Communication and Information's Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) cargo ship, which disappeared in Papua waters,  on 20 July 2024. 

"We have been searching from morning till evening without success. The search will continue," said I Wayan Suyatna, the Head of the Search and Rescue Office in Timika, Wednesday (24/7/2024).

Both sea and air teams have been involved in the search, though efforts have been hampered by rain and poor visibility.  The Navy ships and the Air Force aircrafts  are also assisting. The search team, including the police maritime unit, have ben searching in the designated areas.

The missing vessel, KM LCT Citra XX, was transporting 12 crew members and equipment for BTS towers meant to provide 4G coverage in Yahukimo, Papua Mountains. The crew includes the captain, a navigator, and several technical staff.
