inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. The Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) is promoting the improvement of the professionalism and welfare of security guards (Satpam) as a crucial part of strengthening the national security system.
Satpam are considered to have a strategic role in creating a safe, orderly, and conducive environment, both in the business world and within the community.
This was conveyed by the Director of Community Potential Development Baharkam, Brigadier General M. Rudy Syafirudin, while attending the 2026 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Indonesian Security Guard Professional Association (APSI) at the Novotel Hotel, Semarang, Central Java, on Friday (10/30/2026).
Rudy stated that increasingly complex security challenges require Satpam to continuously improve their competence, integrity, and ability to adapt to changing times.
According to him, Satpam's duties are no longer limited to physically guarding an area or facility, but also include efforts to prevent security disturbances early on.
"The role of security guards is not just to guard a place, but also to be the frontline in creating a sense of security, order, and conduciveness in the workplace and in the community," said Rudy.
Rudy explained that APSI plays a crucial role in bridging the interests of security guards, the business world, and the police as the supervisor of limited police functions.
Through guidance, training, and professional certification, APSI is expected to improve the quality of human resources for security guards and strengthen recognition of the profession.
