inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, emphasized the need for a transformation in the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s oversight function.

He said that supervision should no longer be merely nitpicking at members' faults, but rather should be solution-oriented and begin adapting to an integrated, data-driven system.

This assertion was made by Sandi while opening the Regional Supervision Inspectorate's Supervision Working Meeting and the 2026 Supervisory Function Capacity Building Training held at the Ballroom of The Alts Hotel, Palembang, on Wednesday (5/20/2026).

Sandi referred to supervision as the "heart" of organizational governance. Without supervision with integrity, even the best work plans can lose direction and control.

He also encouraged the acceleration of the digitalization of the police oversight system. In today's digital era, oversight must be adaptable.

"Going forward, we need to encourage the strengthening of digital systems such as e-Wasda or e-audit, which can facilitate a more neat verification, inspection, and documentation process for oversight," said Sandi.

He further highlighted the human resources aspect, emphasizing that a sophisticated system must be accompanied by the integrity of its supervisors. Sandi likened the oversight function to a "broom" tasked with cleaning the institution.

"We can't clean a room with a dirty broom. If the broom is dirty, the room won't become clean, and actually may make it even dirtier. So now, let's start making ourselves the 'clean brooms' for our institution," he explained.

Through this solution-oriented and digitalized oversight transformation, the South Sumatra Regional Police is optimistic about being able to suppress potential irregularities while simultaneously improving institutional governance.
