Inp.polri.go.id - Sidrap. The Sidrap Sub-regional Police and the South Sulawesi Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Corps deployed Armoured Water Cannon (AWC) vehicles to supply water to drought-affected farmland in Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) Regency, South Sulawesi.
A prolonged month-and-a-half drought threatened 1,300 hectares of rice fields in Kanie Village, Maritengngae District, as dried irrigation canals and depleted bore wells put crops at risk of harvest failure just one month before harvest.
Sidrap Police Chief Superintendent Indra Waspada Yuda led distribution operations starting Sunday, continuing through Tuesday, in Watang Sidenreng District.
Battalion B Commander Police Senior Inspector Dr. Ramli said that the AWC deployment reflected Brimob's dedication to supporting farmers in need of urgent water supplies.
In each deployment, two AWC units delivered 10,000 liters of water directly into paddy fields. Joint forces will keep AWC vehicles on standby to maintain periodic water distribution until the harvest season concludes.
