inp.polri.go.id - Jambi. The Jambi Regional Police Special Criminal Investigation Directorate, uncovered alleged misuse of subsidized gas during a press conference held in the lobby of Building B of the Jambi Regional Police on Wednesday (April 22, 2026).
The event was led by the Head of Public Relations of the Jambi Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Erlan Munaji, accompanied by the Director of Special Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Taufik Nurmandia, and relevant officials.
Erlan explained that the case began with a public report regarding illegal transfers of subsidized 3-kilogram LPG cylinders to non-subsidized 5.5-kilogram and 12-kilogram cylinders. Following up on this information, the police team conducted an investigation in Pematang Gajah Village, Jaluko District, Muaro Jambi Regency.
Upon arrival, officers found three individuals engaged in the activity. However, during the operation, two of the perpetrators ran, while one individual, identified as RA, was apprehended. Initial investigation revealed that RA admitted to carrying out the activity on the orders of an individual identified as DS.
Officers then conducted further investigation and apprehended a man identified as MPS, who is suspected of delivering the 3-kilogram LPG cylinders to the injection site. Both individuals are currently undergoing further investigation to determine the involvement of other parties in the network.
In his statement, Erlan emphasized that the misuse of subsidized gas distribution is highly detrimental to the public and violates the law.
"We will not tolerate the misuse of subsidized goods intended for the underprivileged. We also encourage the public to actively report any similar practices," he emphasized on Wednesday (4/22/2026).
