Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Tangerang Immigration Office announced on Wednesday (20/5/2026) the arrest and subsequent deportation of 19 foreign nationals involved in an online fraud syndicate operating under a "love scamming" modus operandi.
The suspects were detained at an apartment complex in Teluknaga, Tangerang Regency, following reports of suspicious activity.
“After obtaining this information, we immediately responded by moving to the target location and coordinating with local management and security to conduct immigration surveillance,” said Head of the Tangerang Immigration Office Hasanin, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The group consisted of 15 Chinese citizens, alongside citizens from Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Cambodia, who had previously operated in Cambodia before attempting to establish operations in Indonesia. Immigration officials uncovered laptops, 32 mobile phones, and fake sponsorship documents.
The 19 foreigners were officially deported and blacklisted from re-entering Indonesia on Tuesday.
