inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto emphasized that technological developments play a strategic role in driving the transformation of national education, particularly in expanding access and improving the quality of learning.

He believes that technology has opened up space for the democratization of knowledge, where access to knowledge is no longer limited to certain groups.

"Not long ago, knowledge was limited to certain groups, but that's no longer the case. Thanks to technology, people can learn directly from professors at top universities. Knowledge is accessible to all groups from various backgrounds, so this is the main point of technology creating a democratization of knowledge," explained Brian on Monday (5/4/2026).

He emphasized that the use of technology must be structured and systematic. Without proper management, broad access to knowledge will not have an optimal impact on improving the quality of learning.

Moreover, the role of teachers and lecturers remains key in the education ecosystem and the importance of strengthening educators' capacity to adapt to technological developments.

"Teachers and lecturers are at the forefront of human resource and technological advancement. They will never be replaced by technology, instead their role is increasingly vital, not only teaching but also serving as mentors with an open perspective on technology," emphasized Brian.

Furthermore, Brian noted that technology has two sides. If not utilized appropriately, it can actually create dependency and weaken the nation's capacity.

Therefore, he continued, strengthening basic science or fundamental knowledge is crucial. "I always view basic science as something that cannot be replaced. So, someone with strong fundamental knowledge will be able to keep up with technological developments," he said.

The Minister of Education, Science, and Technology emphasized that technology must be utilized as a tool to improve human resource capacity, not simply for convenience. Education must remain oriented towards building character, competence, and competitiveness in students.
