inp.polri.go.id - Timika. The Mimika Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim), backed by the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, successfully uncovered the murder of the late LN, which occurred at a hotel in Timika on March 29, 2026.
This discovery was the result of an intensive investigation and pursuit conducted by joint personnel to maintain public order and security in the Mimika area.
The main perpetrator, identified as EH (37), was apprehended on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at approximately 4:13 PM in the SP 1 area of Timika. During the arrest, Damai Cartenz Operation personnel also detained four other individuals: EL (27), DBH (50), YH (27), and JK (37) for further investigation.
Based on the investigation, EH is suspected of being the main perpetrator in planning the murder, which was motivated by revenge related to a previous conflict in the Kwamki Lama area in January 2026. The perpetrator was known to have been involved in planning the action, providing transportation, and procuring the sharp weapon used in the incident.
After the incident, the perpetrator moved the victim's body from the initial location to Kwamki Narama Street and moved several locations to evade officers. He even planned to flee to Nabire by land before being apprehended.
The Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, explained to the media that the case was the result of collaborative efforts between the Mimika Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit, backed by the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force.
"This disclosure is the result of intensive work by authorities in conducting an investigation and pursuing the perpetrator. The joint team from Damai Cartenz Operation and the Mimika Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit successfully apprehended the main perpetrator and several others for questioning," he said.
Yusuf also emphasized that the three individuals previously detained, DBH, YH, and JK, have been released. Meanwhile, EH is still undergoing intensive questioning at the Mimika Sub-regional Police for further legal proceedings, while EL is still being investigated for his alleged involvement in the murder case on Login Sp7-Sp9 Street in Timika City on December 2, 2025.
