inp.polri.go.id - South Tangerang. Police are cracking down on the misuse of subsidized LPG gas in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, Banten. The owner of the LPG injection business, identified as E, also known as HB, is said to have earned up to IDR 23,000 per cylinder.

In addition to charging the suspect with crimes related to the misuse of subsidized gas, police will also investigate assets suspected of being derived from the proceeds of crime through money laundering (TPPU) charges.

The Director of Certain Crimes at the Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Mohammad Irhamni, stated that this measure was taken to provide a deterrent effect by confiscating assets derived from the proceeds of crime.

"To impoverish the perpetrators, we are confiscating the assets derived from their crimes," said Irhamni, at Pendidikan 2 Road, Parigi, Pondok Aren District, on Friday (9/18/2026).

Irhamni stated that his office would confiscate any assets proven to be the proceeds of crime of the perpetrators of subsidized fuel misuse.

Suspect E, also known as HB, is being charged under Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas, as amended by Article 40, point 9 of Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning Job Creation.

"The penalty is six years in prison or a fine of 60 billion rupiah," said Irhamni. He admitted that suspect E, also known as HB, had only been operating for the past three weeks.

According to Irhamni, this is not the first time the practice of subsidized gas misuse has been uncovered. Several perpetrators have previously been arrested. The police stated that it will continue to pursue perpetrators of subsidized fuel misuse, both diesel and subsidized gas.

"We inform you that to date, the Directorate of Anti-Corruption Investigation has conducted 740 investigations. There are 793 suspects missing from January to today," said Irhamni.
