inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang Regency. The Tangerang Sub-regional Police have uncovered a synthetic tobacco production network operating in three different locations. In the raid, police arrested six suspects and confiscated evidence worth approximately IDR 400 million.
Tangerang Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah, stated that the arrest was the result of an expanded investigation into a cross-regional synthetic tobacco production and distribution network that marketed its products through social media.
"We are committed to continuing to eradicate all forms of illegal drug trafficking to maintain a conducive public order and security in Tangerang," said Chief Andi on Thursday (10/29/2026).
He explained that the case was uncovered after they received information from the public regarding suspected synthetic tobacco distribution in Tangerang Regency. Police then conducted an investigation and traced the network, uncovering three rented houses used as narcotics production facilities.
The first bust was made on Tuesday (9/1/2026) at a rented house in the Cipondoh area of Tangerang City. Police arrested suspect OKA and confiscated 754 grams of synthetic tobacco, 37 milliliters of synthetic liquid, and several production equipment, including measuring cups, mixers, and 96 percent alcohol.
The investigation then expanded through information technology data analysis. On Monday (9/14/2026), officers raided a second location in the Cisoka area of Tangerang Regency and arrested two suspects, identified as AL and MH.
"The evidence seized was 10.53 grams of synthetic tobacco, 101 milliliters of synthetic liquid, and production equipment," he said.
The investigation continued to a third location in the Lengkong area of South Tangerang City. Through a delivery control operation, police arrested three suspects, identified as AS, VA, and SH, on Tuesday (10/27/2026). The rented house was known to be used as a synthetic tobacco production facility.
"The evidence consists of 534.1 grams of synthetic tobacco, 35 milliliters of synthetic liquid, measuring tools, mixers, 76 percent alcohol, spray, and scales," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Tangerang Sub-regional Police Narcotics Unit, Police Assistant Superintendent Dimas Arki Jati Pratama, explained that from the entire investigation, police secured a total of 2,093 grams of synthetic tobacco and 173 milliliters of synthetic liquid.
According to him, this liquid had the potential to produce an additional 1,730 grams of synthetic tobacco. The total value of the evidence in this case is approximately IDR 400 million.
"The perpetrators arrested were mostly young people or teenagers of productive age who had just completed their education. This syndicate marketed its illicit products through social media platforms like Instagram, using a system of throwing coordinate points (maps)," he explained.
Dimas adds that they face a life sentence or a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
