Throughout 2022, Central Java Police Revealed 23 Illegal Mining Cases

inp.polri.go.id -  The Central Java Police, since January to October, was able to reveal 23 illegal mining along with the 22 suspects. Not only arresting the suspect, the police also confiscated 26 heavy equipment and 43 trucks. Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi said the 23 cases revealed by his staff came from the Pati Police, Magelang Police, Klaten Police and also the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate. The statement was made when he was at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters of the Central Java Police in Pati. The Central Java Police Chief explained that illegal mining harms the surrounding environment which eventually bad for the state’s long term. Therefore, law enforcement must be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations. “The environment is part of concern of the government. Not only the president, even the Indonesian Legislatives are also observed the state’s natural environment. This is very important, because of its impact on future generations. Therefore, the Central Java Regional Police are committed to uphold the law by forming a team of Puser Bumi Task Force," explained the Two-Star General. The suspects are subject to Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp100 billion.
