Inp.polri.go.id - Malang. The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority (TNBTS) announced on Friday (3/1/2025) a temporary closure of Tengger Caldera to tourists and vehicles during the Wulan Kapitu ritual, a sacred event for the Tenggerese community.
Starting from 17 January 2025, at 3 pm until 28 January 2025, at 11.59 pm, access to the area will be restricted, except in emergency situations.
Wulan Kapitu is a month-long fasting and prayer period observed by the Tenggerese people in honor of their ancestors and spiritual beliefs.
Rudi Tjahja Nugraha, the Head of TNBTS, emphasized that the closure aims to respect this important tradition.
Visitors can access Ranu Regulo and certain areas through designated entrances from Malang and Lumajang, but restrictions apply to vehicles from Pasuruan and Probolinggo.
“We urge everyone, including visitors and tourism operators, to adhere to these regulations responsibly,” Rudi said, as reported by antaranews.com..
