Inp.polri.go.id - Magetan. Four people were killed and three seriously injured when the Malioboro Ekspres train collided with seven motorcycles at a guarded railway crossing in Magetan, East Java, on Monday afternoon (19/5/2025).

“Preliminary data confirms four fatalities and three others in critical condition. We offer our condolences to the victims' families and pray for the injured,” said Magetan Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Raden Erik Bangun Prakasa, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The crash occurred at crossing JPL No. 08 in Mangge, Barat district. According to initial findings, the gate was reopened after another train, KA Matarmaja train, passed. As vehicles began crossing, the Malioboro Ekspres train approached and struck them.

The police are conducting a forensic investigation and questioning witnesses to determine the cause. The victims were taken to Sayidiman Regional Hospital and the Iswahjudi Air Force Hospital..
