inp.polri.go.id - North Sumatra. The North Sumatra Regional Police have seized two excavators suspected of being used for illegal gold mining in Mandailing Natal Regency.
The security operation was carried out by a joint team from the Special Crimes Directorate and the Mobile Brigade Corps at two locations: Muara Batang Angkola Village and Huta Godang Muda, Siabu District.
During the security operation, personnel reportedly encountered interference from several parties who attempted to prevent the control and transport of the seized heavy equipment.
According to information obtained, dredging activities in the area have been underway for approximately two weeks. Initially, people observed five excavators operating at the site. Subsequent developments have reportedly increased the number of heavy equipment.
The seizure of these two excavators is part of law enforcement efforts against illegal mining practices that have the potential to damage the environment and forest areas. Police are currently conducting an in-depth investigation to identify those responsible for these activities.
