Two Thefts Arrested after Stealing Motorcycle Parked in GBK Parking Lot

Police arrested two men suspected of involvement in a motorcycle theft case in the parking area of ​​Lot 6 of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. The victim's motorcycle, which had been missing, was later found and secured by officers.

The two suspected motorcycle theft suspects, identified as MDS (19) and MPS (23), were apprehended by the Tanah Abang Sector Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit's Operational Team following an investigation into a report of the loss of a motorcycle belonging to the victim, identified as NAR (22). 

Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, stated that the case's disclosure was a demonstration of the police's swift response to public reports.

"Upon receiving the report of the alleged motorcycle theft, officers immediately conducted an investigation. Thanks to cooperation with GBK security, the suspects' whereabouts were identified and the victim's vehicle recovered," said Reynold on Friday (6/19/2026).

For their actions, the two alleged perpetrators are being charged under Article 477 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) concerning theft, which carries a penalty in accordance with applicable laws.

"We urge the public not to hesitate to contact the police service 110 if they need assistance or witness any disturbances to public order and security," explained Reynold.

Meanwhile, Tanah Abang Sector Police Chief, Superintendent Dhimas Prasetyo, explained that the incident began on Saturday (6/13/2026) at around 9:30 PM. 

The victim parked her motorcycle in Lot 6 of GBK parking lot with the handlebars locked because he was going to watch a concert. After the concert, the victim found that her  motorcycle was missing.

"We conducted a site inspection, interviewed witnesses, and coordinated with GBK security. Based on the investigation, two suspected perpetrators were arrested, and the victim's motorcycle was recovered at the home of one of the perpetrators," said Dhimas.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered losses of approximately IDR 10 million and filed a police report on June 13, 2026. 

The two suspected perpetrators are currently being detained for further questioning and legal proceedings. Police urge the public to be more careful when parking their vehicles, use additional security locks, and immediately report any crime.
