inp.polri.go.id - Papua. The United Liberation Movement for West Papua or ULMWP revealed the latest facts about the strategy of the Papuan independence issue in the Pacific Melanesian region.

Michael Walker, as a representative of the ULMWP, revealed that his party felt deceived because the use of the Papuan independence issue strategy in the Pacific Melanesian region was only to gain economic assistance and funds from Indonesia.

Michael Walker explained that the ULMWP is an organization that represents the aspirations of the Papuan people for independence.

In recent years, the ULMWP has tried to use the Papuan independence issue in the Pacific Melanesian region to gain international support.

However, over time, the ULMWP felt deceived because the strategy seemed to be more beneficial to Pacific countries than to their own struggle.

"The Papuan independence issue has become an international spotlight. Many parties consider it part of the human rights struggle. And the ULMWP is trying to establish alliances with countries in the Pacific Melanesian region, such as Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands, which have a long history of supporting the decolonization movement," he said.

"By making Papua a global issue, the ULMWP hopes to gain significant political and economic support."

Although the ULMWP has good intentions in raising this issue, many countries in the Pacific region are using the situation for their own interests.

Michael Walker said that support given to the ULMWP is often based on the political and economic interests of the country, not solely to help the Papuan people.

The ULMWP felt deceived when they realized that their strategy aimed at gaining support and funds was actually used by Pacific countries for their political interests.
