inp.polri.go.id - Kendari. The Vice Chief of Indonesian National Police (INP) Commissioner General Wahyu Hadiningrat asked all legal institutions to strengthen cooperation in implementing the new Criminal Code (KUHP) and Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
Synergy between the INP, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Supreme Court is considered crucial to ensuring a professional, fair legal process that provides certainty for the public.
This was conveyed by Wahyu during a meeting with law enforcement officials in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, on Tuesday (10/13/2026).
According to Wahyu, the relationship between law enforcement agencies should not be limited to administrative coordination. Cooperation must be built as a strategic partnership so that the implementation of new regulations runs smoothly, from the central to the regional levels.
"The relationship between the police and the Prosecutor's Office is not merely a procedural coordination relationship, but must be transformed into a strategic partnership. If we can make it a strategic partnership, implementation on the ground, down to the lowest level, will be much more solid," Wahyu said during a meeting with law enforcement officials in Southeast Sulawesi.
He explained that the implementation of the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code brings changes in the approach to law enforcement. The legal process must not only focus on crime control, but must also ensure the protection of the rights of all parties and ensure the fairness of the judicial process.
One area of focus is strengthening coordination between investigators and public prosecutors from the outset of a case. This step is expected to clarify the case handling process, reduce bureaucratic obstacles, and prevent the repeated return of case files.
"With this new law, everything is clearer. There is also an emphasis on restorative justice, admissions of guilt, and potential criminal penalties for investigators who violate provisions. This is all for the sake of legal certainty," he said.
Wahyu also reminded regional police forces to respect the authority of each institution in carrying out law enforcement duties. He stated that sectoral egos must be avoided to ensure more effective coordination and case handling.
"The public does not need sectoral egos or group pride. The public needs law enforcement that supports each other, works professionally, and is present to deliver justice," Wahyu emphasized.
