The Director of Law Enforcement of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps, Brigadier General I Made Agus Prasatya, reminded all traffic law enforcement officers to be vigilant about information developments in the post-truth era, where false information or hoaxes can quickly go viral and be believed by the public.

This was conveyed by Brigadier General I Made Agus Prasatya while leading the Analysis and Evaluation Meeting for the Law Enforcement Division onThursday (8/6/2026).

"As directed by the Chief of INP Traffic Corps, Inspector General Wibowo, we need to anticipate the current dynamic developments and trending topics in the post-truth era. So, if something false goes viral, the public will legitimize it as true," said I Made Agus Prasatya.

He cited several cases that had gone viral on social media and attracted public attention. One example is an incident involving a member of Traffic Personnel in Bogor, which he believes was not fully presented on social media.

"For example, the case in Bogor. A member of the Bogor Traffic Personnel went viral by a vlogger. The narrative that was told was that the member was willing to be bribed, when in fact, the member did not accept the bribe. The video only showed snippets of the bribery, creating a false perception among the public," said I Made Agus.

Furthermore, he touched on several pieces of information that had circulated widely but were confirmed to be false, such as rumors of a vehicle tax enforcement operation on toll roads and misleading narratives regarding bald tires.

"The hoax about the tax operation on toll roads is untrue. Likewise, the misleading information regarding bald tires that had circulated among the public," he emphasized.
