Inp.polri.go.id - Manokwari. A joint operation by the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) killed a member of the armed criminal group (KKB) in Bintuni, West Papua, on Sunday (22/12/2024.
The suspect, identified as Marthen Aikinggin, was a wanted criminal implicated in several violent acts.
"Marthen Aikinggin was a key figure in the KKB's activities, including the brutal killing of four construction workers. His death marks a significant blow to the group's operations," said Senior Superintendent Ongky Isgunawan, the West Papua Regional Police Head of Public Relations.
The operation began on 15 December 2024, with a search effort that traversed several remote areas in the region. On 18 December 2024 the operation reached the area around Marthen's hideout in Kampung Meyah Lama, where a gunfight broke out on 19 December 2024, leading to his death.
Marthen, who led the Moskona Battalion of KKB, was accused for his involvement in the murder of four civilian workers on 29 September 2022, along the Trans Bintuni-Maybrat road.
In addition to his body, authorities seized a laptop, mobile phone, and several sharp weapons.
