Inp.polri.go.id -Papua Province is part of 34 province in Indonesia, consisting of 28 regencies and one city. Most people think Papua is untamed area with dense forest and prote to security disturbance from terrorist group. Most people tend to think negatively about Papua, that Papua is prone to terrorist attack. People then think that Papua is not safe, although it is not true. Security disturbances from terrorist groups only occur in certain districts, in the district near the forest and mountainous area. In Puncak Regency for instance, couple time ago there was terrorist attack. However, the people’s activity in Ilaga District continued as usual. It means that the terror only occured in certain areas and not spread to whole area in Puncak Regency. Head of Public Affairs for Nengkawi Operation (Kasatgas Humas) Task Force Police Grand Commissioner M. Iqbal Alqudusy said that the terrorirst group stayed only at the mini sone of Puncak Regency, Mimika Regency, Intan Jaya Regency, and Nduga Regency. It means that eventhough they stay at the four districts, but they only stay at certain areas. Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) will keep chasing and enforce the law against the terrorist group stayed in mini zone. “We, TNI-Polri, will enforce the law firmly and measurably to the terrorist group in mini zone (Mimika, Intan Jaya, Nduga and Ilaga/Puncak,” said Iqbal, Monday (17 May 2021). In October, Papua province will be the host of National Sport Week (PON) XX. Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency, Merauke Regency will be the organizing cluster. In the middle of security issue between TNI-Polri and the terrorist group, most contigent is curious about the safety furing PON. In the second chef de mossion meeting in Jayapura on 7-10 April, the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe had ensured the security of Papua as it will be backed up by the TNI-Polri apparatus. Kombes Iqbal again stated that the security in Papua is safe and conducive. The terror only occurs in mini zone. The terror from terrorist group is far from the four claster of PON. “Overall the Papua Province is safe and conducive,” as stated by Kombes Iqbal.
