Inp.polri.go.id - Oksibil. In a significant operation, the Damai Cartenz Task Force found a cache of weapons and ammunition during an operation involving 100 personnel from the Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Indonesian Military at  the site of an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Headquarters in the  Bintang Mountains region . The headquarters, believed to be linked to the KKB Otobius Bidana Mimin, had been under surveillance due to its potential threat to public safety and peace in Papua. Bintang Mountains Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Dafi Bastomi, said that the operation to re-explore the site led by Damai Cartenz Task Force's Chief of Operations Major Muh. Syaldi Sabir aimed to address any potential disturbances and enhance peace in Papua. "During our re-exploration of the site, we discovered a bag containing a short-barreled FN rifle, camouflage uniforms, dozens of ammunition rounds, and various other items.  This bag was concealed within a rice sack," he said in his statement on Sunday (8/10/2023) The task force confiscated four firearms have been seized from the KKB Otobius Bidana Mimin's possession, comprising two long guns and two FN-type short guns, along with a substantial quantity of ammunition rounds, as well as some other items. Superintendent Dr. Bayu Suseno, the Head of Public Relations for the Damai Cartenz Task Force2023, raised suspicions that the FN firearm may have belonged to a helicopter pilot who lost contact in Bintang Mountains in 2019. "This FN Rifle is believed to be the weapon of Captain Aris, an Army Helicopter Pilot who lost contact on June 28, 2019, while piloting the MI-17V5 HA-5138 helicopter in the Oksop District, Pegunungan Bintang Regency," he said. The spokesperson emphasized that the security situation in the Bintang Mountains Regency has been relatively stable and under control.
