Inp.polri.go.id - Cirebon. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has revoked the mining permit of a quarry operated by Al-Azhariyah Islamic Boarding School Cooperative in Cirebon, West Java,  following a deadly landslide on Friday.

“The West Java Energy and Mineral Resources Agency had issued multiple warnings about safety risks at this site,” he confirmed on Saturday (31/5/2025), as quoted by antara news.com.

The closure, he said, is an administrative sanction due to inadequate safety standards. In addition to Al-Azhariyah’s operation, two other nearby mines managed by local foundations were also shut down.

The affected permits, issued in 2020 before Governor Dedi’s tenure, were originally valid until October 2025. He noted that a province-wide moratorium on new mining permits is currently in place to review environmental and safety practices.

Authorities are also investigating illegal mining operations in other parts of West Java, including Karawang, Subang, and Tasikmalaya, to prevent further environmental and safety hazards.
