Inp.polri.go.id - Sumedang. The West Java Regional Police distributed 10,000 liters of clean water and staple food packages to drought-affected residents in the Gunung Geulis area, Sumedang Regency, on Friday (4/9/2026).

The relief operation addressed a five-month prolonged dry season that severely depleted local water supplies, forcing households to spend up to Rp 30,000 daily to purchase bottled water for basic needs.

"We deliver 5,000 to 15,000 liters of clean water weekly to affected communities," said West Java Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Hendra Rochmawan. "We will maintain this routine distribution until the dry season ends."

He added that staple food packages were simultaneously provided to assist low-income casual laborers and retirees whose livelihoods have been impacted by the ongoing drought.
