Inp.polri.go.id - Pontianak.  West Kalimantan Regional Police introduced a melon cultivation program on Friday (26/6/2026) as part of efforts to support national food security. The initiative utilizes available land within the West Kalimantan’s premises to create productive agricultural areas with economic value for the community.

West Kalimantan Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Bambang Suharyono explained that the project reflects Polri’s commitment to sustainable food programs.

“By optimizing land use, we can increase productivity and ensure food availability. Melon farming is a starting point to inspire communities to develop economically valuable agriculture,” he said.

Designed as a pilot project, the program will gradually expand to district and sub-district police levels. Through this initiative, the West Kalimantan Police aims to encourage communities to transform unused land into productive sources of food, while promoting sustainable farming practices.

The program will later be replicated across West Kalimantan, with Bhabinkamtibmas public service officers collaborating with local residents to manage productive land.
