Inp.polri.go.id - Padang. The West Sumatra Regional Police Directorate of Samapta deployed specialized K9 Search and Rescue (SAR) units on Thursday (24/9/2026) to intensify search operations following severe flash floods in Solok Regency.

Search operations focused on high-priority sectors, starting along riverbanks and mud-inundated areas behind the Solok Regent's Office.

West Sumatra Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Susmelawati Rosya said that deploying trained K9 units maximizes search efficiency across complex terrain heavily covered by flood debris.

Led by Maintenance Sub-Unit Head Assistant Second Inspector Hamidi Rahmadhoni, four experienced handlers equipped with two specialized K9 transport vehicles deployed two German Shepherds trained in SAR detection. 

Director of Samapta Superintendent Andre Anas confirmed that the K9 units are tracking scent traces along the flood path to locate missing residents in coordination with joint emergency response forces.
