The South Sumatra Regional Police deployed joint personnel in Operation Aman Nusa II to intensify patrols and inspections of areas prone to forest and land fires in several areas, including Samo Raso Hamlet, Bayung Lencir District, and Pekale Village, Sungai Keruh District, Musi Banyuasin (Muba) Regency.
The operation focused on early hotspot prevention, protecting the community from the impacts of haze, and maintaining security and order in the environment. Personnel from various regional task forces conducted integrated patrols and conducted community outreach.
In Bayung Lencir District, patrols and inspections were led by Padal Aman Nusa II, Police Senior Inspector Jusrianto, along with 10 personnel. They conducted sweeps in Pancoran Hamlet and the surrounding area.
Meanwhile, in the Sungai Keruh, the Commander of the Sungai Keruh Post's Forest and Land Fire Assignment Team, Ulul Azmi, led a joint team consisting of five personnel to conduct public awareness campaigns and patrols in Pekale Village.
The forest and land fire management strategy prioritizes prevention through dialogue and direct monitoring of land conditions. Personnel visited the public to educate them against clearing land by burning.
The operation also involved collaboration between the police and the community. Cross-sectoral coordination with relevant agencies was also optimized to strengthen regional oversight.
South Sumatra Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, emphasized the institution's commitment to protecting the public and preserving the environment from the threat of forest and land fires.
"We are ensuring that all operations are running optimally to provide a sense of security to the public," said Nandang.
The South Sumatra Regional Police urge the public and corporations in South Sumatra to be more vigilant and refrain from clearing land by burning. They are also asked to immediately report any signs of forest and land fires to the nearest command post so they can be dealt with quickly.
