Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. A woman was killed following a multi-vehicle chain collision involving an LPG transport truck and eleven other vehicles on Jalan Leuwipanjang, Bandung City, West Java, at around 12.15 pm on Wednesday (29/7/2026).
Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit at the Bandung City Sub-regional Police, Assistant Senior Inspector Fiekry, said that the accident was allegedly triggered by the truck driver experiencing microsleep while travelling from the direction of Jalan Soekarno-Hatta toward an LPG distribution point.
"We received initial information indicating that microsleep led to the incident, resulting in one fatality, a female cyclist," he explained.
According to preliminary statements from the driver, the LPG truck had just finished unloading its cargo prior to continuing its journey.
"The driver said that after unloading cargo from the Soekarno-Hatta direction, he was en route to deliver to distribution points. He only regained full awareness after his truck had already come to a complete stop at the final vehicle," Chief Fiekry added.
The fatal victim was evacuated to RS Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung for identification. Another victim sustained severe injuries, including bone fractures, and was transported to Immanuel Hospital Bandung for medical treatment, as reported by antaranews.com.
The crash impacted at least eleven vehicles, comprising both cars and motorcycles present at the scene.
Police officers secured the LPG truck and detained the driver for further interrogation at the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit. Authorities conducted crime scene investigations and compiled a complete registry of involved vehicles.
