inp.polri.go.id - Yahukimo. Personnel from the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, along with the Yahukimo Sub-regional Police, moved swiftly to investigate a case of serious assault against a civilian named Ambotang (52), a Bugis ethnicity.
The victim was allegedly stabbed by members of the armed criminal group (KKB) from the Yahukimo XVI Regional Military Command (KODAP).
The incident occurred at the Pasar Baru intersection, Sosial Boulevard, Dekai, on Wednesday (10/22/2025) at around 6:45 PM WIT. The victim suffered lacerations to his left neck, left elbow, and left ribs as a result of an attack using a sharp weapon, an axe.
After receiving a report from the Yahukimo Sub-regional Police via radio, the joint security forces immediately went to the scene and evacuated the victim to the emergency room at Dekai Regional Hospital for medical treatment. The victim is now conscious, but is still in severe shock and cannot be questioned in detail.
"Based on the initial investigation and witness statements at the scene, the assault occurred suddenly while the victim was sitting in front of his kiosk," said the Head of Damai Cartenz Operation, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani on Thursday (10/23/2025).
According to him, the two perpetrators, suspected to be Yahukimo natives, immediately fled towards Sosial Kalibonto street after attacking Ambotang. At the scene, authorities secured evidence of an axe used by the perpetrators and a pair of white and blue sandals.
"Based on our investigation, the perpetrators are suspected to be sympathizers of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) of the Yahukimo XVI Regional Military Command," Faizal said.
He further explained that these actions were believed to have been carried out to incite a destabilizing public order situation in the Yahukimo area.
Faizal strongly condemned these acts of violence against civilians and emphasized that joint forces were conducting an intensive investigation to uncover the perpetrators and the network involved.
The Damai Cartenz Operations Task Force urged the public to remain calm, not be easily provoked, and immediately report any suspicious activity or unknown individuals in their neighborhoods to security forces.
