inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, urged the public to achieve the blessing of Ramadan by filling their days with various good deeds and acts of worship, including strengthening national unity (ukhuwah wathaniyah).

"Ramadan is a month filled with many blessings. This blessing will be perfected if we fill it with various good deeds and acts of worship in accordance with Islamic law. The atmosphere of fasting provides spiritual encouragement and mental strength to overcome life's various challenges and difficulties. We build harmony and unity, especially Islamic brotherhood and national unity (ukhuwah wathaniyah)," explained Mu’ti on Friday (2/27/2026).

He also discussed the phenomenon of communal piety which is formed by one's environment. Mu’ti stated that a person's enthusiasm for worship is greatly influenced by those around them, both within the family and workplace.

Regarding the meaning of Ramadan as the month of the Quran (Syahrul Quran), Mu'ti explained two perspectives on the history of the revelation of the Quran. Referring to Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 185, he emphasized that the Quran is not merely a recitation, but a distinguishing feature between what is true (haq) and what is false (batil).

"The Nuzulul Quran event on the 17th of Ramadan is an important sign of Muhammad's appointment as the Messenger of Allah. The tradition of tadarus (recitation of the Quran) that we practice is inspired by the Prophet Muhammad, who always recited the Quran with (the angel) Gabriel. We need to intensify our Quran reading, especially in terms of frequency rather than number of recitations," said the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education.

He urged Muslims not to focus solely on the number of recitations, but rather to read the Quran with tartil, or slowly. According to the Minister, reading the Quran with deep appreciation will bring guidance in daily life.

Furthermore, the Minister also discussed the social aspects of Ramadan as a month of brotherhood (Syahrul Ukhuwah). He viewed the tradition of breaking the fast together in Indonesia as a reflection of national harmony.

According to him, fasting together is often followed by all levels of society, not just those who are fasting.

Finally, Mu’ti encouraged all congregants to maximize their capacity for worship and charity. He advised them to use Ramadan to strengthen national unity.
