Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is preparing extradition proceedings for Riza Chalid following the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice against the fugitive oil tycoon.
He is a key suspect in a high-profile corruption case involving crude oil management and refinery products at state energy company PT Pertamina between 2018 and 2023. AGO Spokesperson Anang Supriatna confirmed on Tuesday (3/2/2026) that they are exploring both formal extradition and deportation routes, as Riza’s Indonesian passport has already been revoked.
"With this Red Notice, we can proceed via deportation since we have revoked his passport, or we can prepare for a formal extradition system," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The issuance was delayed by legal complications, as Indonesian officials had to convince Interpol that the case's focus on "state losses" was a criminal matter rather than a political one.
Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko, the Secretary of the NCB Interpol Indonesia, confirmed that Riza’s location within an Interpol member state has been mapped, with a tracking team already deployed on-site. While his specific coordinates remain classified to ensure a smooth arrest, officials expressed confidence in securing his return to face ongoing judicial proceedings.
