Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Three acclaimed Indonesian films—Yohana, Tale of the Land, and Crocodile Tears—were featured at the 22nd Asian Film Festival in Rome, Italy, during a special “Indonesian Day” hosted by the Indonesian Embassy in Rome.

Acting chargé d’affaires Tika Wihanasari said on Friday (11/4/2025) the significance of the moment, calling it a reflection of Indonesia’s rising presence on the global cinematic stage.

“These films are not only artistic expressions but also cultural mirrors of the Indonesian soul,” she said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The films, known for their powerful narratives and cultural depth, were warmly received. Yohana explores female leadership and spiritual wisdom; Tale of the Land, which earned the FIPRESCI Award at Busan, delves into ancestral land and environmental preservation; while Crocodile Tears, nominated for multiple Citra Awards, delivers a poignant critique of social issues.

Festival Director Antonio Termenini praised the films' emotional richness and authenticity, calling them “a valuable addition that adds depth to this year’s festival.”
