Inp.polri.go.id - Badung. A clandestine drug lab in Uluwatu, Bali, specializing in hashish and "happy give" pills, was capable of producing an estimated Rp 1.5 trillion (approximately USD 96 million) worth of illegal drugs in just two months, officials disclosed on Tuesday (19/11/2024).
“This lab has been operational for two months, with a production value estimated at Rp 1.5 trillion,” said INP Head of Criminal Investigation Agency Commissioner General Wahyu Widada, as quoted by antaranews.com.
During the raid on Monday, police investigators seized 169.9 kilograms of hashish and raw materials, along with 35,710 pills. Hashish, sold at Rp 3.5 million (USD 220) per gram, was extracted from cannabis at a ratio of 1 kilogram of cannabis to 200 grams of hashish.
The police suspect the drugs were intended for distribution in Bali, Java, and international markets, with a push to supply the upcoming New Year’s celebrations.
The bust stemmed from an earlier case in Yogyakarta in September. Four suspects were arrested at the lab, which Chief Wahyu described as equipped to produce drugs on a massive scale.
