Inp.polri.go.id - Martapura. The Banjar Sub-regional Police in South Kalimantan foiled the trafficking of 19 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine after arresting a courier in Gambut district, Banjar Regency.
Police officers discovered the narcotics inside two bags hidden in a car parked on Gubernur Syarkawi Street last Thursday afternoon.
“When the officers approached, the driver attempted to flee. Thanks to their quick response, the suspect was caught and secured,” Banjar Police Chief Superintendent Dr. Fadli told reporters during a press conference on Monday (15/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The search revealed 19 large packages of meth, weighing a total of 19 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Rp 34.2 billion (approximately USD 2.2 million). Authorities said the haul could have supplied up to 152,000 users.
The suspect, identified only as S, faces charges under the Narcotics Law, carrying a minimum of six years and a maximum of 20 years in prison, plus fines between Rp 1 billion and Rp 10 billion.
