Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Tourism has urged stricter adherence to hiking safety protocols following the death of Brazilian tourist Juliana Marins (26) during an expedition at Mount Rinjani National Park, West Nusa Tenggara.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Juliana Marins’ family for this tragic loss,” said Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana in a statement on Saturday (28/6/2025).
The minister emphasized that compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), outlined in Park Decree No. 19/2022, is critical to preventing fatal incidents.
“Following these procedures is not a formality—it’s a frontline defense,” she stressed. as quoted by antaranews.com.
Marins’ body was found 600 meters down a ravine after a four-day rescue operation in extreme terrain.
Minister Widiyanti called for improved safety training, stricter supervision, and mandatory certification for tour operators, guides, and porters.
She also urged foreign tourists to choose certified operators and report any SOP violations via WhatsApp at +62 811-895-6767.
