Inp.polri.go.id - Manokwari. Ahead of July 1, the anniversary of the Free Papua Movement, traditional leaders in Manokwari are urging residents to remain committed to national unity and avoid provocation.
“I call on all people in West Papua, especially Manokwari, to maintain stability and not be provoked by actions that could harm themselves, their families, or society at large,” said Korneles Yenu, the Chair of the Red and White Movement of Irian Jaya, on Saturday (28/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
He emphasized the importance of verifying information shared on social media and warned against manipulation by irresponsible parties.
“We must all be part of the solution, not the source of conflict. West Papua must remain a land of peace within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia,” Yenu added.
Traditional leader Lewi Mandacan echoed the appeal, saying, “Let’s uphold peace and unity. The state has paid attention to Papuan interests—let’s protect our progress together.”
