Inp.polri.go.id - Palu. The Tawaeli Office are investigating the assault and robbery of a Chinese citizen, following a traffic accident in Kayumalue Ngapa, North Palu, on Monday night.
The victim, identified as Guo Zhenrong, was driving a Mitsubishi Pajero when he reportedly struck a parked motorcycle, triggering a pursuit by a mob that pelted his vehicle with stones. After stopping his car, the victim was brutally attacked and robbed of his mobile phone, a bag containing vital documents, and cash by unidentified individuals.
"Our priority was the victim's safety, and he was immediately evacuated to Madani Regional Hospital for urgent medical treatment," said Tawaeli Police Chief First Inspector Zulham Abdillah on Tuesday (17/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The victim suffered facial injuries and lost several teeth during the assault. While officers recovered Rp 2.14 million at the scene, the perpetrators remain at large.
Palu City Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Superintendent Hari Rosena has ordered an intensive investigation, warning the public against vigilantism. Authorities are currently reviewing evidence to identify the attackers and recover the victim’s stolen property, emphasizing that all legal matters must be handled by law enforcement rather than through mob violence.
