Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Minister of Culture Fadli Zon announced that over 100 historians, led by Prof. Susanto Zuhdi from the University of Indonesia, are participating in the comprehensive revision of Indonesia’s official history books to present updated and academically verified narratives.

"We're involving nearly 100 historians, focusing on revision, additions, and clarifications based on scholarly research," he said during a press briefing in Jakarta on Tuesday (6/5/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The revised history book series will be divided into multiple volumes, each covering different eras—from prehistory to the present—under different editorial teams. Rather than starting from scratch, the update builds on existing content, enriching it with new findings and perspectives.

The revised editions are targeted for completion by August 2025 to coincide with Indonesia's Independence Day celebrations.

Updates will include revised narratives, newly uncovered historical insights, and corrections of previously disputed accounts. For example, recent research reveals prehistoric cave art in Leang-Leang, Maros, is far older than previously believed—dating back 40,000 to 52,000 years.
