Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Two detainees under custody at the North Jakarta District Court escaped on Tuesday evening (6/5/2025), sparking an extensive manhunt in the Tanjung Priok area.
Assistant Senior Inspector Tommy Brian Hutomo, Head of Criminal Investigation at Tanjung Priok Police, explained that the escape occurred around 7 pm.
“One detainee was quickly arrested on court premises. The other remains at large,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The detainees reportedly fled by jumping over a fence behind the court building, located near the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS). Security personnel, including joint police forces and court staff, were deployed to conduct a sweeping search.
Drones were also used to track the fugitive’s movements from above, and surrounding homes and buildings were thoroughly checked. In one instance, officers climbed onto rooftops and used flashlights to search a three-story house roughly 100 meters from the court.
