inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin wants to strengthen defense in Papua to maintain stability in the region and its surrounding areas which is also in line with the development program and improving the welfare of residents in Papua.

The desire was conveyed by Sjafrie directly to the Indonesian Military leaders in the Papua region. The Minister of Defense sees that strengthening the defense system in Papua is not only about guarding the region, but also ensuring stability and security that has an impact on the entire region.

"Papua is an integral part of the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia which has invaluable strategic value from various aspects. Therefore, we must ensure that Papua has a strong defense system and is ready to face all potential threats," said the Minister of Defense.

Menhan Sjafrie also emphasized to the state security  leaders in Papua to maintain synergy between the central and regional commands, and ensure that security and sovereignty in Papua are well maintained.

"And, continue to improve readiness and professionalism in carrying out the task of maintaining state sovereignty, especially in Papua," said the Minister of Defense.
