Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. In a heartening gesture during a Labor Day dialogue, East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga offered the daughter of a local laborer the opportunity to take the police entrance test after hearing her story of unrecognized athletic achievement.

Wanto Mangngi, a laborer attending the event at NTT Police Headquarters on Thursday (1/5/2025), shared his disappointment that his daughter, Renata Mangngi—a silver medalist in a national karate competition—had received no acknowledgement from local authorities despite representing the province.

Moved by the story, Chief Daniel asked Wanto, “How old is she? Does she want to join the police?”

He instructed his staff to connect the family with the NTT Police Human Resources Bureau to explore Renata’s potential enrollment as a future policewoman.

“If she’s one of NTT’s best, why shouldn’t she have the same chance?” Chief Daniel said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Wanto, surprised and grateful, confirmed that Renata, currently in her final year of high school, has long aspired to become a police officer.
