Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government strongly condemned the recent armed violence by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Yahukimo, Papua, which resulted in the deaths of 11 gold miners, said Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan on Thursday (10/4/2025).
"This brutal attack that occurred between April 5 and 8 shows a total disregard for humanity," he said. "The perpetrators attacked in a cruel and indiscriminate manner, spreading fear among local residents."
The government is currently focusing on evacuating victims and returning bodies to their families, though efforts have been hampered by weather and challenging terrain.
Expressing deep condolences, Minister Budi Gunawan emphasized the government’s commitment to securing the region.
A high-level coordination meeting was held involving various ministries and agencies including the military, police, and intelligence bodies to address the situation, according to antaranews.com.
